Composer and multi-instrumentalist Justin Lee Radford combines his unique mixture of sound and song to create ethereal, emotive and ambient works. He has cultivated extensive collaborations with film makers, environmentalists, astronauts, scientists, designers and social activists whilst composing music for film, VR, commercials, art installations and theatre.

Described by BBC conductor and composer Charles Hazelwood as “a new breed of sonic adventurer,” Justin’s uses analogue synths, strings, tape, speed warps and computers to bring his ideas to life. His proudest moment to date is having his music included in the short film “Call To Earth”—a moving, impactful message from the world’s astronauts addressing international leaders at the Paris Climate Agreement (COP21).

He has just completed a spatial score for “Orbital”, working again with Planetary Collective and new collaborators, Cosm Labs. The piece is a voyage beyond the planet, made bespoke for Cosm’s new immersive domes, as we experience our home through the eyes of Astronauts, from the singularity, to the Overview effect.

Regular collaborators include folk/electronica artist Message To Bears (HIN & Humans Suits), and internationally celebrated Cornish theatre makers Kneehigh Theatre.

Justin was born in Cornwall, UK, to two musician parents. He now lives and in Portland, Oregon.
